World Children's Festival

July 2007, Washington DC-The Augustina Droze Mural Studio is devoted not only to the creation of fine commercial and residential murals, but also to giving back to the community. A core focus of the organization is to make a positive impact on the world through the creative arts. As a part of this initiative, over the weekend of June 23rd and 24th, Augustina traveled to Washington DC to host a workshop and assist in mural painting at the "World Children's Festival".  This festival welcomes children from all over the globe to DC for the weekend to partake in a variety of artistic events. The children were chosen to attend based on their art abilities. Augustina helped as an expert muralist in the creation of a mural which was later presented to President Bush. The mural entitled "Bridging Cultures" was created by children from Latvia and the United Arab Emirates. The design and layout was entirely child directed. In addition to assisting with the mural project, Augustina Droze lead a workshop creating a sculpture entirely from recycled objects. It was later donated to the DC Department of Public Works Community Environmental Education Program as a mascot for their recycling initiative.
