Hubbard Street Mural
September 2008 Chicago, IL- Community murals add color and life to neighborhoods as well as promote dialogue and teamwork among citizens. Augustina Droze frequently works on public and community projects in the Chicago area and beyond. This newsletter will showcase some exciting community murals which were painted this summer. Above you see a panoramic mural painted along Chicago Avenue. The mural depicts a typical day in the neighborhood with special attention paid to lighting, detail and perspective. The Hubbard Street Mural Project is a true Chicago tradition. Every summer 3-4 artists are chosen to paint a large panel of the train embankment on Hubbard Street between Desplaines and Ogden. The murals must focus on the themes of endangered species, wildlife, or Chicago History. The panel painted entitled "A Drop in the Pond" by Augustina is of a dragonfly on lily pads.
