Detroit Fish Market

April 2009 Detroit, MI - In the heart of Detroit a new seafood restaurant opened early this year. One of the most noticeable decorative elements as you enter the restaurant is the huge mural of a variety of fish leaping out of the water painted by Augustina Droze Mural Studio. The vibrant colors of the fish look stunning next to the rich dark wood paneled walls. Metallic paint was used to create the iridescent scales of the fish. The water droplets and fish were varnished in high gloss while the sky and clouds were coated in matte varnish to create a realistic wet feeling to the painted elements.
